Entries exceeding word limits will be disqualified.
Submissions are open from March 13-27, 2017. Entries before March 13th and after March 27th will not be considered.
1st place: $100
2nd place: $50
3rd place: $25
All winners will be recognized on the UVW website, and have their work published on the UVW website and in a special newsletter sent out to the UVW mailing list. Winners will be announced at the April 20th meeting.
5. Satisfying conclusion
Entries will be evaluated on content, writing quality, and overall strength of storytelling and writing craft using the UAA judging form.
Entries will NOT be judged on adherence to theme. The quote at the top of the page is to inspire creativity.
Judges commentaries are final and are based on their opinion and experience. Their thoughts and comments are not to be a wholesale condemnation or appraisal of the story and should be taken with this understanding.
Entries must be submitted in PDF or Word, standard formatting, double spaced, using Times New Roman, 12 point font. Do not include your name in the body or heading of the manuscript. Type the title and word count at the top of the manuscript. Cover pages are not requested. Submit text only; illustrations are not accepted. Electronic submissions only, by email, with your entry attached.

Attach your submission (be sure to follow the submittal guidelines or your entry will be disqualified).
Your entry must be original, in English, unpublished and unproduced, and not accepted by any other publisher or producer at the time of submission. UVW retains nonexclusive publication rights to the winning entries to be published on the UVW website and in a special UVW newsletter. Author retains all ownership of their work. Any works posted online, other than on a personal blog, are considered published.
Once an entry has been submitted no edits, replacements, or changes will be accepted.
UVW assumes that all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein. UVW is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of an entrant and will not become involved in copyright disputes.
The judges will be the UVW leadership, who are ineligible to enter the contest. They also may not read/critique works intended for the contest.
